People have Puppet manag...</title><content type='html'>Ilya,&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I work on Puppet.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;People have Puppet managing installations on 10K nodes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What version of Puppet are you using?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Do you participate in the mailing list or IRC?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Puppet has had many of the issues you describe in its evolution, and still has a lot of performance optimizations that can and will be made.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No one should be using Webrick, except as a toy installation. Mongrel is better, but right now the community is mostly advocating Passenger.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Puppet will probably never be the best file server, but the next release candidate will improve performance and the memory footprint considerably. (the current implementation is using venerable XMLRPC.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Still for big files or lots of files, using Puppet to manage git or even rsync will be more performant.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We're a transparent community.
